New Mama goat seems stressed

she had 180 goats she was getting rid of because the cheese makers she sold to said she was making too much milk. This was the story i got? Anything is possible but it is a local farm close to here and word travels fast in a small town, most do honest business. She was also mostly selling those that already had kids, and she sells the baby seperate but i talked her into a few preg.

If you look at Nester everyone says he is huge a week in the pic. He always has a big ol belly, I think he is sucking her dry I will slowly keep uping the grain and see what happens.

Do you think water on the alfalfa cubes are ok?

Yes that is the wormer we used, but it has only been 5 days

OK Keep in mind I am not a vet but raised Pygmy's for many years so all of this is my opinion. Nester is a good size kid but in the pic doesn't look huge to me. It is very common for a first time doe to have one large kid and then after that typically twins.
Worm her again 10 days after the first dose. I am not sure about the water on alfalfa pellets we never fed pellets.

Thank you all for your help. She seems to be doing better. I dont know what a large baby looks like but a few of the crew from a local farm said they never see babies that big at 5 days. Like you said he had a chance to take all the nurishmant from the mother so he may just be a bit bigger. They are taking time to adjust but seem ok i hope the other mother does fine thru her kidding but it must be stressful to move the day you kid like Baily did. I gave her an extra cup of grain in her mixture this afternoon and plan to do the same tonight......time will tell

Singles usually have a tendency to run larger than twins...I have a Alpine that had 1 and he is huge and his name is Hoss...he is half La mancha and half Alpine...and sometimes with twins 1 can be big and the other smaller. No to worry about ...they should be fine...

You've gotten lots of sound advice already. He's a cutie pie!

My goats hate anything that has been wet, so I wouldn't water the pellets down.

Also, the black doe is copper deficient (see the reddened hair on her hind end?), so you can bet the white doe is as well. I'd bolus both.

they wont touch the block i have in the pen only the baby licks it???
I plan to get loose minerals for them next time i go to get food. The food i have also adds cooper and says not to feed to sheep because it has copper.

They would not touch the alfalfa cubes at all without water and mixing with grain but i weigh it before i add the water. Then they eat it down and still have hay all day long to munch on.

I know the food has copper, but often times it is not enough. Now you see, too, why we all say mineral blocks are useless for goats
