"New" Meat product at supermarket

Different shops and manufacturers of chipped beef make it and flavor it differently. I bought 3 different kinds on a trip to PA in June and they were all different. Back in March I bought some at a very good butcher shop and it was quite smokey tasting. The chipped beef in PA is nothing like the little packets I find in NC! I take a cooler to stock up when I go up there, then divide it into smaller portions and freeze when I get home.

But this chipped beef is completely cooked and dried not raw.

If it is like the stuff we get at Freddies.... it would be very thinly sliced raw beef in an oblong package. We use it for philly cheesesteaks and to add to pho soups and sandwiches that we bring home.
