(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am super new to chickens but everyday I do quite a bit of research! I picked up my first chickens at the beginning of April!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
So far I have 11 with 19 in the incubator and 4 on the way 🥰

(3) What breeds do you have?
Silkies, Polish and my sex-link are arriving at the end of May!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
How different breeds can be super friendly and basically love you! I never knew how friendly they could really be. I feel like once you start getting them you can’t stop 😂

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and learning new things!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My family! My partner Mike and I have a one year old little girl named Emma! She adores chickens just as much as I do lol! We also have 3 cats (Lena, Stu and Silas) & 3 dogs (Spade, Sally and Stanley) Yes we kept the S’s rolling Hahahaha!! We also have 4 pigs Ruby, Theodore, Cripsy, Bacon. I am currently a stay at home mother. I use to be a full time level 3 first aid attendant before my daughter. We live in a nice little place but I can’t wait to move on from here so I can build another coop and more shelters for other types of animals 🥰

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found BYC when I was doing my research on different chickens, questions and incubation. My friend Kristine told me that this was a great site to follow! So here I am 😁

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You must have built a very large coop!
One recommendation is to replace the chicken wire with 1/2" hardware cloth with a 2' predator apron. Chicken wire keeps chickens in and nothing out that is looking for a chicken dinner.

I won’t be keeping all my chicks I’ll share the babies with others! I’m wanting 2 silver laced polish hens and hoping for atleast 3 Silkies out of my hatch!
