Thanks for the confidence boost! And congrats on the leap year ducklingsWelcome to BYC! Eggs are actually a bit more forgiving during incubation than one would think! I just had ducklings hatch out on Leap Day! Had all sorts of trouble trying to keep the humidity stable with this dry winter air!
Thanks for joining our flock!!
Well hello BYC peeps! I am new to the forum & new to being a chicken mommy.... well not quite as mine are still incubating ⏲. I’ve always wanted chickens, as I grew up with them, but never had the option but with a recent move to an acreage, I wanted to hatch little babes with my kids & thought it would be great for family togetherness ☺. I have to admit, yesterday I felt like giving up already & yesterday was only day two!We were having what felt like devastating problems with our homemade incubator .... but with the perseverance of my partner ❤ we finally won the temperature battle! Now I am back to being excited & wondering what kind of chicks I’m going to get!
but the anticipation is hard lol I want them to hatch tomorrow!!
I have 3 dozen eggs; a surprise as I only asked & paid for 2 dozen. The eggs seem very nice & beautiful. They range in colours of brown with speckles, white, & even one that looks purple! There is a size variation from one quite small to one larger than the rest. I have only candled a couple as I heard there’s nothing to see until day 3 or 5, but the ones I did candle, I saw a nice embryoso exciting!!
Now I was told they were Americauna chickens but none of them are blue, research tells me these are blue/green layers .... thoughts?
Thanks for reading & happy clucking all!!
