Hi, I am new to the group and just wanted to tell you all about myself. I live on a small farm on 5 acres. At the time, I have 13 chickens, 4 horses, 4 dogs, 1 cat and 2 aquatic turtles. 5 of my chickens are Rhode Island Reds, then I have some that I hand raised which are, 2 Orpingtons, 2 Black Laced Wyandottes, 2 Speckled Sussex, and 2 Easter Eggers.
My question is, yesterday I found an injured Ringneck dove. Right now I have it contained by itself because all it can do is fly in circles before it just hits the ground. I felt so sorry for it that I had to get it to a safe place to prevent a cat or fox, etc, from killing it. I am wondering if a Dove can live with my chickens or will they kill it?? I have two BIG chicken pens. One has 5 chickens and the other holds 8. I am wanting to try to slowly introduce it into the largest pen that holds the 8 hand raised chickens. I am just afraid that they might hurt it. Should I just call a bird rescue??
