New Member and a question

I'm not sure either but if you have a dog crate you could put the Dove in there and put the crate in the run like they do when introducing a any new birds to the flock.
see what reaction the chickens have to the Dove.
I do have a dog crate. I will definitely try that. Thank you for the advice!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I doubt that the chickens will accept the dove. I know MY chickens will chase any song bird that comes near them. They actually killed and ate a fledgling English sparrow. :sick

Welcome to BYC! Sounds like you have a nice flock! I hope you enjoy the website.

As far as the dove goes, I agree with sourland. Try to rehabilitate the bird in a cage or crate, away from the chickens. If you have a garage or a shed with a window, those would be good places.

If the bird recovers, it would be a good idea to try and determine exactly what the dove is-- is it a wild Eurasian collared dove, or is it a ring neck dove that has escaped or been released from captivity? If it is the former, release is best, if the latter, it will likely die quickly in the wild.

Best of luck! Hope the dove makes it.
