New member and new to chicken laws

Hi everyone.

I searched everywhere on the net about my local laws and regulations on having a backyard chicken coop. I live in Oxnard California 93036 area. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I went to the local city website and cannot find any information on this area. Just want to know if I can own chickens for egg laying purposes before I start putting more time into this. Thanks for your help.

It appears that Oxnard allows up to 25 hens , no roosters ( immature offspring are usually not counted.)

Your coop and run will have to comply with rules for accessory structures.

PS You are so lucky, my town allows only 6 hens.

If you go to city hall of the city where your property is located, they'll give you a copy of the ordinances. If you ask someone there, they may not know the correct answer.
