Hi ,
My name is Julie and I am from Queensland,Australia.
I am married to Robert with 4 adult children and a great niece that we are raising. My husband is an ex farmer and I am a city girl.
I love the different heritage breeds of chickens and they have so much character...each one is different...unfortunately we live in suburbia and our council states 6 chickens and 6 ducks but no roosters or drakes :(
I have 3 light sussex,1 silver sussex (Which wandered in one day!) 2 Aruncanas ,2 silver creole and just today hatched 2 Buff Orpingtons!! This is not counting our 2 dogs,1 cat,2 budgies,1 fighting fish and one pet silver silky!! So we have a menagerie and it sometimes makes it hard to go away but I can't do without my animals!!!
They seem to complete our life and one day we will have a block of land we can live on and that would be paradise for me..

Enjoy your wonderful flock and welcome to ours!

G'day! Welcome to BYC! I'm not Australian, but we have friends who live in Australia and there are a number of BYC members who are from Australia. As it happens, my favorite standard chicken breed is the Black Australorp which was developed in Australia. Good luck with your flock and I hope you get that block of land soon.

Hi Julie I am Aussie too, from Gippsland Victoria, I have 5 chickens, a rabbit that lives permanently free range inside and a cat, recently lost my beautiful dog Edward. I too love my animals, my little rooster is my baby, he loves a snuggle with me, very much a mummies boy!!!

Julie hasn't been on the site for 6.5 years but we have many active Aussie members! You can find them here. Have fun.
