New member but for a sad reason :(

Ducks can most certainly survive the winter. Our ducks would RATHER be out in the cold, blowing snow than inside. They love it!
Maybe if you can get them outside in a pen she can come down and spend time with them and learn just how cute and cuddly and funny they are.
Reassure her that they are not house ducks permanently. Maybe her inexperience with them just needs some coaxing.... we've all been there at some point whether ducks, chickens or whatever.
If you must rehome them you are certainly at the right place but I hope they get to stay :hugs

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock!:welcome BYC is a helpful site providing all the information you need to know about poultry! There is always space for more members on the BYC roost!:highfive: Even if there is just a wooden/plastic coop or shelter to prevent wind or rain, your ducks will definitely be fine. Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!

I hope you can keep the ducks!

I've never heard of people keeping ducks inside their house! Well, unless they're babies or one is sick and needs some additional care. Maybe a garage or shed temporarily. I think if you could get any sort of outdoor shelter and a pool of water they would do fine. They tend to make a mess so that's why they live outside... all year.
I hope you'll be able to keep them. Good luck!

Send her those pics and maybe that will convince her!
Birds are tough.

Yes! I think the pics have actually reassured my fiancé that they’ll be fine outside... he knew they were going outside eventually but I think he was still a little worried about the little guys. I’ll definitely be sending those pics to a few other people who still aren’t convinced as well. :)

We have some very bitter weather here during the winter. one year our village set the state record of 32 below zero, the next day was 26 below. I can tell you no body went anywhere, the old car batteries way back them could not even be jumped started.

I see ducks and geese on the water whenever there are some open areas. When it's all iced over, they still sit on it.
