Hi y’all!
Been lookin through posts on here both prior to and during the past 3 weeks raising my very first pair of ducklings (Pekin)! Their names are Chowder and Waddles. Chowder is the heaviest of the soups, and the heaviest of the two ducks. I’m expecting two more ducklings- mallards this time. I’m gonna keep coming back here for info, so signing up seemed the next logical step! Thanks for the great info BYC!

Quick question: I’m starting to spend lots of time with my duckies - today, going so far as to shower with em. How will spending lots of time around my ducks affect our relationship? My goal is to have ducks comfortable with me, I can handle them comfortably, move them in and out of the box I use to take em places and start chomping all the tasty earwigs and slugs I point to beneath my flower pots.

Hello, and Welcome to BackYard Chickens! Pekin's are very prone to leg problems so you may take a look at this post,

https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/niacin-deficiency-in-waterfowl.1367557/
Thank you for the link! I actually had to tell the Hatcher about Niacin. I’ve been adding 2 Tablespoons of Brewer’s Yeast to every 1 cup of feed. I spray it with a little water then mix and repeat for about 2-3 cups of feed a day. I have been having to clean out the feeder every day lately so I keep the amount of food in it down to limit the amount of feed I end up tossing when I clean.
