Just got my first chicks March 10, 6 Easter Eggers. Have 26 Delaware's coming in mid April. I am a gourd artist / crafter and a member of the Village of Yesteryear in Raleigh, NC. My avatar is a gourd bird that I created from a home grown gourd. I have some gourd chicks that I will share when I get a photo ready. Will be celebrating 25 years of marriage to my dear husband Tony in July. Our family consists of 2 Boxer girls, Dixie & Kissa, 2 cats, Harry & Bella along with the 6 chicks and two colonies of mealworms that I started in February. My Grandpa John always had chickens and would give me roosters to keep as my own as a child. One year he gave me a little hen that the mama hen was mean to, she had pecked the little chicks head bald on top:(. I named her Susie and she was just like a puppy, I could even walk her with a lease! Many fond memories of chickens! Thanks to the Backyard Chickens forum for all the great information!!!:yiipchick

Welcome to BYC!

Thank you! I am thankful for the information I have already received from BYC forum. Just last night we used the forum to find a fix for the chick feeders. (Chicks were raking food out and creating so much waste.) Also used a lot of BYC info to start my mealworm colonies and even where to purchase the mealies. BYC has been a wealth of info already. It has become my first resource to get answers about chicks and more. Thanks to everyone!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Congratulations on your new chicks, EEs are fun and the Delawares are a really nice breed, such huge eggs! That gourd bird is a cute idea, love the feet.
