Manufactures who falsely
state that their coops hold that many birds should face a fine. It is detrimental to the chickens health and well-being.
The problems that people have in regards to their chickens, often are caused by crowding and boredom.
They really should have around 10" to 12" on the roost too to keep from fighting.
There is an awesome coop build section here. Sometimes people get very creative. If you are in a warmer climate, you could convert a used dog kennel to a coop/run combo. Or, you could convert a shed.
