Hi all, wonder if anyone out there can help me, I've just started keeping hens I have four ex battery hens they were a mess when we got them, three have come on great but one is still not got all her feathers, she was full of life and foraging and bossing the others about but overnight she has stopped eating just stands and closing her eyes, I brought her in and her poo is almost slimy kinda yellowy and watery, is this a sign of anything? Is there anything I can do to help her, so fond of her

How wonderful you could find it in your heart to take in ex-battery hens....giving them a second chance at life! From your description of her poop color, it sounds to me like she may have some sort of internal infection. Many times liver disease will cause yellow runny poop, as will e-coli. If she were my bird, I would start her on antibiotics. Sulfadimethoxine will take care of both of these infections. However, I am not an expert on chicken diseases. So you might also post this question in our emergency section for more help....

As for her shabby look, she has probably not molted out all those ragged feathers yet. I surely hope you can get her healed up soon! It is never easy to see them sick. Enjoy the rest of your new flock and welcome to ours!

Hello and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about your hen, TwoCrows gave you some good suggestions. You might want to get some Probiotic and put it in the water
this can be purchased at a local feed store and some Electrolyte
also and just for good measure cook up some hard boiled egg's
as this has everything their body's need and keep them out of
any drafts for now and no smoking around chickens very
important ....
