Hello!

so I've been reading posts on this site for years now, and decided its about time I become an official member. I've kept chickens for the past four years when we moved to the country with no zoning in upstate NY! I'm a happy chicken lady now.
Ive just recently gotten into specific breeds, and am slowly learning how to breed them. last year was my first hatch, with a broody-she hatched 7 out of 8 eggs. I just got my first incubator and were only on day 2-they will be a mix of chicks, easter Eggers and olive Eggers.

I'm interested in breeding pure blue Ameraucanas and French black copper marans. I have a pure blue Ameraucana rooster, and pure black copper Maran hens. working on getting both sexes so I can have some pure chicks of both breeds.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Good luck with your hatch! The next 19 days or so will the be longest EVER! But well worth the wait! :jumpy

Definitely stop by our General Breeds forums where there are several threads on Ameraucanas and Marans or you can start your own threads... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/general-breed-discussions-faq.14/

Good luck in all your chicken adventures and welcome to our community! :)

G'Day from down under DaphneMama... :frowWelcome!

I am pleased you delurked and hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
