Hello! I am a lover of all things Ameracauna also! I currently have around 200 chickens, more than a quarter of those are Ameracaunas and about half of my Easter Eggers are Silver Ameracauna crosses ❤ I hope you enjoy the community here!

200 will keep you busy feeding and watering and gathering those eggs for sure. I was upto 200 plus also last spring and then decided to cull out by selling some varieties that weren’t quite what i wanted or expected upon trial run. Plus room has to be made for more EEs and adding Ameraucanas now. I also got behind on building smaller houses and coups to divide some varieties from others. I did a little thing called knee replacements this fall and am still recovering but absolutely out there feeding, watering, and gathering. Sitting with ice packs on as I speak! Did get all EEs and White Plymouth Rocks there very own spaces.

I moved back up to Bailey County next to New Mexico border about where the real Pan Handle ends, It’s where I grew up as a child. Family still out here. Muleshoe is county seat. Lots of wide open spaces.

Class of 90' myself! I went in 78' but took a hiatus for awhile before going back!

Sorry had to take the pups out. Actually Australian Shephards getting up there in years. One is 14 and has trouble now with a lot of things, other one 10 1/2 and I see hip issues on the horizon but he still acts like a puppy and wants to play. Wow really small world. Did you ever live up here in this area? I have a twin and he’s been back up here since the late 80s and raised a family up here and they went to Three Way. He’s rancher pretty big time with registered Black Angus. Mom and Dad are still alive and coming up on 89 yrs old and also live down the highway about 7 miles putting them 3 miles from the border. I don’t know if you read my blog on new members thread but a lot of info is there. We went to Littlefield elementary and Whiteface Middle School. Before moving to Abilene where we graduated HS. I made it to A&M for Horticulture department only and then of course was died in the wool Maroon! My spouse and I bought a home up here to move to the country which was our dream. Both of us raised on cattle ranches. Made since because I had family, some land and some cattle already. But we lost the 10 yr battle with lung cancer, that had moved to brain and bone aggressively and passed away shortly after buying the home, Dec 27, 2017. Everyone said that I had to finish our dream and so here I am after 40 years in Dallas . So Working in small steps for a rebuilt life. The tiny “town things” near are Maple, Goodland, which I bull dozed most of it, and Enochs . It’s prairie but I do enjoy the peace.

That just so funny. Chicken shaming! Just gotta smile big about this one. I put heat lamps in each of my six smallish chicken houses and within a week of that, egg production doubled. Great for egg sells for sure. Not that we are really all that cold. But I can keep teens and 20s off them and turn lights off when lows are in the 30s.
