Yep, and quite a few folks on here have heard about them!Really great field. While there I knew a TA working on his doctorate in Marine Biology. Great Guy. Have you had some great excursions out in the oceans?
Some really cool history. Where we are now once was part of the XIT. My Dad ranched 5000 acres for my great uncle when we were children. Half of it around Goodland and other half backed up to the Yellow House’s western edge. We camped there as Cub Scouts. It was a great way to grow up. We thought we had everything a person could want. Didn’t know that we really had next to nothing: a pair of boots , 3-4 socks, 2 pants, and several shirts and undies. Oh yes a Sunday dress suit.Sorry to hear about your DW, that's a tough loss.
No never lived out that way but my great great grandfather bought 12 sections of land when the Farwell brothers were breaking up/ selling the XIT ranch, so the state could build the capital building.
Blackwater Draw runs through the middle of the farm. I still have some of my family that live out there...the Booth family. The farm is on the National Registry of Historic Sites...it's been continuously farm and owned by my family since 1905.
Thank you! I had no idea there was a community of people of such kindness and of like interest. Really great! One of my favorites is a young EE cross rooster. His cockerel (Copper Sex Link x EE tan partridge hen w/good P&B) X hen ( Buff Orpington x Copper Sex Link) x EE hen also tan partridge with good P&
Wow incredible experiences. Wish we were close enough for coffee and time to hear your stories. I really enjoy learning about different experiences from some else. We are learning so much about each other’s lives , except I don’t know where your interest in poultry lies?Yep, and quite a few folks on here have heard about them!I got my Masters there also, same field....life happened or I would have a PhD.
Been to almost every island in the North, Central and South Pacific and spent quite a bit of time in the Caribbean, too! Sometimes I think I have webbed feet because of it!![]()
Yeah, I know where Yellow House is...like you, I grew up "land poor", we had farm in Collin county, North of McKinney, a ranch in Zavala county and the farm at Muleshoe. I would'nt trade it for anything though, was a great way to live and be brought up....alot of land, a little money, and alot of love. Some really cool history.
