Wow, thanks for letting me know. I was going on what the nice lady told me when I got them out of the back of her pickup truckHello and welcome to BYC!Glad you joined.
Your 'Ameraucanas' are actually Easter Eggers. The rooster to hen ratio you stated is actually to guarantee fertility. Many people keep birds in pairs and trios. Give them a chance.
She probably didn't know.Wow, thanks for letting me know. I was going on what the nice lady told me when I got them out of the back of her pickup truck![]()
Roi the roo's rescuer found him as a chick. He was in a paper bag in a public trash can, chirping loudly. It was near Easter and apparently giving chicks as presents is something people do. In my experience, they are usually the marshmallow kind. Anyway my friend was a hippy that lived outside, and for eight-ish years those two were ALWAYS within a chicken's run of each other. They were quite the spectacle and a lot of tourists would visit him and take pictures with Roi. His IG is still up @RoiandStan in case you're interested.Glad to meet you. What an amazing story about that handsome rooster (isn't he a looker?!). I am so glad your friend rescued that chick - who would throw a chick into the trash??
And so glad you rescued him after your friend passed unexpectedly. What a lucky rooster he is! Lovely chickens, too. Best wishes with your flock and welcome to BYC!
