New Member in Kansas City!

Thanks for the warm welcome!!!! Yep, our flock is great to look at! A few, like the Cream Legbar (oh, she's a crabby old lady!) are into Yard Ornament stage. But we've got several that will lay again as it warms. Yard Ornament for the next decade is just fine by us.

And thank you for the concerns about our drake! We did have three hen ducks, but the other Cayuga/MallardCallDuck passed (after spending about $600 at the vet...). However... he's about half the size of the Magpie girls, AND has a bum leg. All three are willing but I don't honestly know if he's ever succeeded...he just...slides off. He does, however, charge the Scotch Collie in a bundle of rage and feathers and it's hilarious to watch.

Looks like we'll be adding a Cayuga, Blue Whiting, Fayoumi, and Speckled Sussex (sweetest bird ever, hands-down most social and affectionate) this spring. I will order two of each, and the extra hens will go to local homes. If you only get one...it's guaranteed to either crow or vanish ;)

Any suggestions for a different breed? We've got a quarter-acre-or-more back yard to wander, and the only real requirement is that its eggs be different from the others so I can track hens and it not be aggressive with the others. I may add another leghorn/australorp, but that'll wait a year until another one turns into a lawn ornament!
