Hi ! My name is Heather, I am from NJ but live in Sierra Madre, CA (near Pasadena) with my husband Scott, our 2 dogs Coach and Hannah, a water turtle named Jekyll, a ball python named Cobie and our recent addition-- an adorable drake Pekin named Georgie. Georgie's mate, Daisy, a mallard, is joining us this weekend as well.

(1) Are you new to ducks / when did you first get ducks? yes although it turns out my mother had a duck as a kid and so did her father! We adopted Georgie a week ago from Janie, a wonderful woman than i now consider a dear friend. Her landlord gave her notice that he will eventually build more homes on his property, meaning she needed to start finding a new home for herself and animals. I saw the re-homing duck ad on a CL and soon we were building a duck pen!

(2) How many ducks do you have right now? 1, soon 2, possibly more

(3) What breeds do you have? see above:)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? searching online for info on ducks since i am totally new to this

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? i'm an artist/illustrator, secondary level public school art teacher, union leader, professional pet sitter. i love spending time outdoors, at the beach, at a lake, hiking, with my dogs, reading, watching movies
