Hey everyone, thanks for such a warm welcome!

Hmm.. I hope Patsy Is a hen.. She certainly looks like one..


I have a theory that maybe she was used as maybe a practice bird before the fight.. I don't know if that's a thing. Though she doesn't have any injuries other than a patch of lost feathers and some little nicks on her legs.

I think the images are up.. This is patsy and her spurs. Let me know what you think.. They look sharpened to me.

Is there a way to estimate the age of an adult chicken?

My name is Amani (to mean PEACE)
Thanks so much for allowing me to be a member...i live and work in Arusha Tanzania as a TOUR DRIVER GUIDE and i do rare chicken as a family earning ..so i do chicken for small scale business...currently i have atleast 78hen..11cork and 145 three months old chicks.....i have been selling some eggs to the local restaurants and homes..

presently i have started seeing some changes in my chicks as the have developed swelling in either one of the eye and spreading to the next chick and this is how i happened to such for online help and happened to be in your site..its so helpful thanks alot and promise to cooperate

Hello and Welcome To BYC! X2 Patsy looks like some kind of red sex link. You might want to post her pictures in the Emergencies https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures forum for suggestions on how to treat her (should probably worm her etc if she is thin), also she looks like she might have leg mites or something going on with her legs that need to be treated.
It is not that unusual for hens to have spurs, and they are often just naturally sharp, so it doesn't mean she was used for fighting or anything.
There is no good way to estimate the age of an adult hen unfortunately.
