Emily: You did good girl and I guess I had better continue answering your questions.

#4 Can't remember exactly how we found this site but it was like a year ago this past January. A HUGE wealth of info and we participated often in the thread Spring of 2017 First Timers. Really good people and helpful.

#5 Other hobbies have changed over the years, pretty normal. Played lots of golf, taught snow skiing for years, played tennis, handball, fast pitch softball, backpacking, pilot and plane owner, boating, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, ping pong, bird watching, and probably more.

#6 Retired as a dirt and pipeline contractor. Have an 8 yr old "mini lap lab" mutt, wife retired as our office manager, flag person, and awesome at keeping everything running. Did a fair amount of traveling UNTIL we got chickens. The girls have made us reluctant to leave them and we spend a ton more time with them than we ever thought possible. For the first time in over a year we took a 3 night trip for razor clamming as we found a neighbor that met our rather high expectations for a chicken sitter. Now looking forward to some more trips.

Ok, that is enough. We have now fulfilled our commitments and look forward to reading more about your chicken adventures. We previously spent many years in Mammoth Lakes. Know Palmdale rather well.

Just watch out for crazy roosters here on BYC!:goodpost::welcome

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I'm very new to chickens and I love them to pieces! I just got my first few about two months ago? Maybe a little more.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

6 young ones!

(3) What breeds do you have?

1 Barred rock, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 White Leghorn, 1 black sex-link, and 2 bantams (idk if i spelled that right or got the name right... they're easter eggers) Everyone is still really young (no eggs yet), but we have a pretty strong hunch that the Barred Rock (Parsnip) is a rooster.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Unfortunately, my rhode island red (Pepper) has fallen ill and isn't opening her eyes :( I found a similar thread on this website.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I'm a dog trainer by trade but I also consider it a hobby, I enjoy writing quite a bit, and playing video games, as well as, of course, caring for my pets

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have one dog (16 year old chihuahua, Pumpkin), 4 cats (4 year old maine coon, Little Mama; 11 month old maine coon, Scoops McDoogler; 1 year old tuxedo, A Cat Called Quest; 7 week old orange tabby, Strongbad AKA Dangeresque), 6 chickens (Parsnip, Pepper, Pea, Peach, Peanut, and Pistachio), 1 sun conure (Bob), and loads of fish!
Your chicken names all start with "P", do you have any Peafowl? LOL and, get well please Pepper!
