Hello! My name is KatherineE

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes I’m new to chickens.
My husband and I bought our chickens about 3 weeks ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have 6 chickens

(3) What breeds do you have? We have
2 Cinnamon Queens
2 Buff Orpington
1 Barred Plymouth Rock
1 Ameraucana


(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I’ve always wanted to raise chickens, my Grandmother and Great Grandmother we’re farmers and they had chickens. I’ve been growing veggies for quite some time. And now I have chickens!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I quilt, embroidery, knit, and have both a vegetables and flower garden.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have a Wonderful family 3 children, I Adore the 2 son-in-laws, and 1 Daughter-in-law they have 2 sons 4&6, and we are all are Very close. My Husband is retired and he is building a coop. We have raised bed veggie garden and yep he built those too.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join

I found out from my sister. I would like some advice about one of the chickens that I have. It has a crooked bottom beak.
 
:frow hi there katherine. Another new person here, hope to get into the flow soon. Only a couple of chickens for now plus a few furry friends. There's so much to learn about these sensitive creatures with their funny sweet little ways. Cant imagine looking after many more, these girls keep me busy as it is.
 
Hi Katherine, welcome to BYC! Have you started a thread in the emergencies forum for your chick? It sounds like cross beak. I've never had to deal with it before, but I believe in some cases the chick can live fine with it. Is it able to eat and drink ok?
