new member introductions

My family has been to Hawaii often (not me - won't fly) and it sounds and looks (from photos and videos) like Heaven on earth. Maui is my brother's favorite place. He always takes photos of the wild chickens and says they are everywhere. Mahalo for joining the BYC flock, glad to have you

Aloha, and welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join to our flock. It's not often we get posts on BYC in Pidgin, even from our members who live in Hawaii. :o) I've lived on both the big island and Oahu, and have visited Maui and Kauai and all the islands have choke feral game chickens running around on them. X2 on drumstick diva's advice. Hawaii's feral chickens are tough and I wouldn't expect disease to be a problem, however I would suggest using the "look but don't touch" method of introducing new birds to the flock. There is a good article explaining how to do it at http://poultrykeeper.com/general-chickens/introducing-new-chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck wi da flock.
