Hello everyone- just discovered this site- terrific. We have 4 hens- the first started laying on Chrismas day; the second a fortnight later; the third at the start of Feb and the last one,3 weeks ago. Egg performance has been great. New Hamp red gives 6 a week, French Maran 5; Heinz 57 gives 7 (but is now broody and sitting on 11 silkie eggs) and cream legbar gives 4. I expect we have has all the usual issues; rats; foxes, etc.
Finding the broody a challenge- shes been sitting for 10 days in a small ark with a wire netting floor. Any advice on what to keep an eye out for?

Kind regards

Ralphwaldo;)

from over the border. Hope you have as much fun on this site as I do.

With regards to your broody just make sure she has access to food and water, put them away from the nest so she has to get up to eat and drink and that way she will poop away from the nest too. Other than that, just leave her be to do her thing!

Good luck.
