Well, we're blessed/cursed with a new resident. I was sitting on the porch the other day with wifey watching the chickens and all of a sudden all the grownups run under the porch. I get up to look as a shadow streaks across the yard and what do I see, but a beautiful bald eagle soaring across the sky. I stood and watched in awe as it glided through the air. They really are beautiful.

Problem is we have 18, one month old, catalog bought chicks scheduled for release into the flock sometime soon. I'm sure timing could not be worse, for this guy to show up. Could someone please tell me not to worry, that bald eagles don't like chicken meat??? Please?? Could you do that for me?

Eagles eat chicken, but I have never lost a chicken to an eagle. We see them almost daily here in the PNW. We also have many large hawks, Knowing your adult birds saw it ans ran for cover is a good thing. As long as then have easy access to cover you should be ok.
