My family and I are new to chickens and just started getting them a few months ago! We finally bought a house and had the space to get them!
We currently have around 40 chickens, our breeds are Sapphire Gem (we think, we got them from Rural King, our first time buying chickens, and they were in the incorrect bin lol), one chicken we have no idea what he is, Easter Eggers, lavender orpingtons (my two baby girlllssss) Speckled Sussex, Silver laced and gold laced wyandottes, Isa Brown, Rhode Island Reds, buff orpingtons. And this morning we just got two Ameraucanas, three cuckoo marans, and three olive eggers.
We also have four ducks but we got them from the assorted bin at tractor supply and have no idea what they are but we love them so much!
Our favorite part about having a flock is spending time with our chickens and watching/observing them and their different personalities, my husband loves birds but I didn't want inside birds and we compromised on chickens, now I love them as well!
We wanted a lot of variety in our flock so we have only a few of most of the breeds.
We love cooking, fishing (bass and catfishing!!!) gardening, hiking, foraging, and anything similar! We have been stalking backyard chickens for a while and are excited to be part of the community!!!
Enjoy some photos of our chickens, most are still just babies!
