I have no idea! I have 4 non-conforming bantam chicks now (hopefully they are still bantam 🤣)
They are from a farm near me, not a hatchery as such.
I guess it's like getting a KC registered dog from a breeder or a pet from a family home that are supposed to be the same breed but the genetics aren't perfect and so you get quirks?
