I live in northern Oklahoma. I was raised on a farm with chickens as well as other farm animals. I have 3 children, all grown with one precious granddaughter. I am retired due to back related issues. SO, I have elected to fill my backyard with chickens. I tell myself it's for my granddaughter's fun and education BUT, I just love chickies. I remember alittle about raising chickens from being a kid but not that much. I have already found a wealth of information on here but still have alot of questions and concerns. So I will be asking for advice in the future for sure. Glad to be here.

Welcome to BYC! You sound a lot like me (retired with 2 children, a son-in-law, and a granddaughter). That's my granddaughter's picture in my avatar. I've been raising chickens for over 50 years (so it's obviously not for my granddaughter's benefit), yet our granddaughters do get the fun and educational benefits of it. My granddaughter's favorite chickens in our flock are the Easter Eggers as she loves the colored eggs. Does your granddaughter have a favorite kind or breed of chicken?
