Thanks! I picked up a wooden shipping crate free off FB Martin. We had the lid from previous chicks. Cut it down to fit the lid and it’s working perfectly. I love how it turned out!Hello, Carole, and welcome to BYC!Glad you joined.

Hey everyone, happy to be with other peep enthusiasts.
I’m Carole, we’ve raised chicks in the past but have been out of it for years. We got a few Barred Rock and Rhodes last year. Enjoyed it again so we’re expanding the flock.
We have a small place in VA and are trying to create a place for people to encounter more nature.
This is the first time I’ve had such a mixed flock. We already lost our two new Barred Rock chicks and an Americauna.
The rest seem to be doing well so I hope they all make it. We have Buff Orpington, Saphire Gems, Cinnamon Queens, Starlights, one more Americauna, and some other reds.
I specifically came to see if apple cider vinegar would be a benefit and happy to say, found the answer here!
Hoping to join some of the dialog and learn more great info!

by any chance do you know why you lost those 3 or were they showing any symptoms of being sick? I have a sick little baby right now that I’m nursing back to health so that’s why I ask. Best of luck raising these cuties! 
Definitely use a little nutri drench on the lethargic babies. Don’t over do it though (I learned the hard way) another thing that helps is putting electrolytes in the water for 1 day. They should perk up. Best of luck!

I’m not sure, they just seemed weak the next day. One died pretty quickly. I tried molasses water with the other but it didn’t work. Those were my two Barred Rocks. A day or so later one of my Americauna’s did the same thing.Your little babies are so cute! And welcome
