    Hi everyone!
I have 4 sweet hens, and I was wondering when will they start laying eggs? I bought them as baby chicks from Atwoods on May 26th, 2013. I don't remember all the breeds, but I do know that we have a Red Star and a EE. At least that's what the guys at the store told me. :)

Thanks! It looks like they just turned 4 months old. I guess that we still have awhile before our girls start laying. [IMG]

Welcome to BYC [IMG] Glad you joined us! On average hens start laying aged 25 weeks, though many breeds start much sooner and some much later. Most of mine started around the 20-22 week mark.

I am also a newbie. We got 4 chickens on June 4th and they have not started laying yet. We had a surprise, one of them ended up being a rooster. A local farmer took him for us. We now have 3 hens. Two Plymouth Rocks, which is appropriate, because we live in Plymouth , Ma. and 1 Rhode Island Red. Hello from the East coast to the West Coast.
