Hello,
My name is Willa. I live in Northwest Arkansas with my husband, 2 children, 2 dogs, 1 fat cat, numerous fish and 4 chickens. We live in town so they are very much backyard chickens. I've wanted chickens for a long time but didn't ever think it was possible living in town. However, this past summer, a coworker was looking for a new home for a couple silver laced Wyandotte babies that were getting picked on and outcast. I wanted to "save" them so bad I looked into all the city ordinances just to be sure I couldn't take them. To my delight this city allows up to 4 chickens (we moved recently). So, we scrambled together a coop/ run as fast as we could, passed inspection, got our permit and officially became chicken parents. We brought home our two Wyandotte babies and two Barred Rocks that are just a couple months older in July. It's been a scramble from the beginning and I spend so much time reading what to do next but I love our girls (and their eggs ).
I found BYC pretty much every time I searched my chicken questions. I always find good info here and will always need to learn more so it made sense to join.
