Hi! My name is Teddi. I've had chickens and lots of other farm animals my whole life. I love my laying girls and even our nice roosters! Currently I have 8 Cornish cross, 3 ayam cemanis, and 100 assorted laying peeps that our local store was selling on clearance. Our new puppy killed off 50 of our laying hens recently when the storm blew the door open and we were out in the field so we're catching up again now. We had some fancy breeds in there but only one or two or those left now. I'm hoping to get some silkie hens soon.

Speckled Sussex and golden comet are my favorite breeds personality wise, but I love the black maran egg shell color.

My other hobbies are fermenting foods, cooking, gardening, and learning how to raise animals on wholesome, natural diets/mixing food for them. I'm trying to learn how to play the harmonica, and I have played the piano for over a decade.

I really enjoy this forum, and I'm glad to finally be a part of it!

Welcome Cool.gif

You have a nice place!

Sorry for your losses but, your puppy is going to be waiting for another chance. Killing 50 birds is no playful accident.
Ya :( ... unfortunately most of our dogs have killed chickens or some type of animal when we got them. We take in most puppies that people drop off on our road. They are always the hyper breeds...but we have always trained it out of them by age 3 from positive exposure, etc.. Usually everything is super secure but we had a microburst rip through our area and it really did some damage, the coop door being one of them :( our neighbors had entire barns flattened! So we feel lucky. And are being cautious as alqaya again! :)
