Just would like to say hello, and thought I'd introduce myself. my name is Anna and I am new to poultry, however, just recently (approx 3wks ago) we acquired two chicks and two ducklings. Our chicks come from a mixed flock with a large variety of breeds and we only know one of the chicks has some Rhode Island Red but what it is mixed with is unknown. Our ducks are Runners, and we have no idea what sex any of them are. One runner and one chick are 6wks old and the other runner and chick are 4wks old. They live in a make shift coop in our kitchen diner at present but we are looking to outside them with in the next four weeks. Both our runners are beginning to make a sound which resemble a quack, however, surprisingly the younger runner 'quacked' first and is at least a week ahead of the elder. We only have YouTube videos to go by, but the sounds they make I think sound more male but my daughter thinks female so for all four we just have to wait and see.

Thank you so very very much! :)

Thank you to everyone for such warm welcomes. I joined this community because throughout all my trawling through the internet since having our birds, I have always been able to find answers on here and I noticed the level of care and support you give to each other, and every one so willing to help one another is so uplifting and encouraging. I am from the UK and live in England and for whatever reason there isn't much advice or information about from the UK and having discovered your community a few weeks ago, with so many knowledgeable people giving such sound advice is a blessing and I have learned so much already. Thank you all for your willingness to share, your community has helped me tremendously. :)
