(1) I have had ducks for about 3 years. We had chickens a few months, but a predator just killed them all

(2) We have 9 ducks

(3) We have 4 Pekins, 2 rouens, 2 Khakis Chambells, a Call

(4) I love their personalities.

(5) We also raise rabbits for meat and garden

(6) My husband and I have 2 grown sons that live at home. One has Autism. I do not work. I make things out of terracotta pots.

(7) Bonus: I found BYC through Facebook. Became a member to get advice on how to care for our ducks better especially my new in house duck.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens I am sorry you lost your chickens could you add your location State, county gives an idea of what predators also post photos of coop or how the predator got in ?

I am in White Cloud, Mi which is a rural area about 45 minutes north of Grand Rapids, MI. We have Bears, Coyote, Fox, Weasels, Opossums, Coons. I found prints in and around pens that looked like fox but could of been weasel. Our pens have bird netting over them and fenced in completely so had to be small enouch to fit through cracks or fencing.

They were separate from ducks however whatever got them also got in the pen with my ducks an unfortunately got one of my pekins too.

It's chicken wire and the fencing that has rectangles.

Chicken wire is worthless for keeping predators out.
Invest in some 1/2 inch hardware cloth.

Thanks. My husband was trying to figure out how to secure our 3 pens. Right now we built stalls in our garage for at night to keep them safe and covered the windows with bunny wire so they have air flow and lots of fans to keep cool.
