Sorry for your silkie loss. They aren't flyers and with their big crests obscuring their vision they, are easy target for predators.

You can help somewhat by cutting back their crests, so they can see around them.

I'm sorry you lost one of your flock to the heat. It's brutal on them out there for sure, I lost a couple of Australorps one summer to heat as well.
