Its funny that you say that because I already have changed the number of chickens I have decided to start with from 4 to 8 and I don't even have any yet. I saw a Bald Eagle yesterday eating a rabbit on my property. Made me a little nervous as they can carry off a full grown chicken. Eagles are not a common occurrence. It figures
Bald eagles got about a dozen chickens around here between mine and my neighbors. Bird netting over the entire area you are ranging them will work with BEs. Of course we figured that out after we all lost a few.:hit

We have birds of prey including eagles where we live also, @organicgal. Make sure you net over your run and don't free range unless you can stand guard or afford to lose a few birds to predators. I don't free range because of the birds of prey and 4 footed predators around us.

Welcome! :D :D
You must be excited about the new chickens coming! What are they gonna be?
As always Keep Clucking!
I don't know 100% yet. I seem to like most all breeds but I need to keep in mind that I am raising chickens for the eggs since I love fresh eggs
