Not really, but never got around to introducing myself. Just why I began raising chickens, not totally sure, but it has been interesting to say the least. That old yarn about chickens being dumb, those people have obviously never raised chickens. Stupid they are not, limited, yes, but they'll out wit you, given the chance to do so.
I began raising chickens about 6 years ago. I started with 6 RIR's from Tractor supply. From that beginning, I have added to the flock. I have had several different breeds of chickens. I have had Orpintons. One was a rooster that I named "Booster" because he was the first one removed from the flock, once I realized he was a rooster. He was "boosted" from the flock, hence his name. He was one BIG bird. The largest of any I have had. My goal is to have a flock large enough to help make some extra money as I move into retirement from Civil Service with the Army as an Electronics Technician. As a side point, I'll help with electronics questions, or related questions if anyone needs help. At present, I have about 60 hens, and 2 RIR roosters. I don't want fertilized eggs on a regular basis, but do have 3 Wyandotes to that purpose. Began with 6 but 3 died. So, my quest and adventure moves forward.
