Hello, I am a younger backyard chicken owner. Me and my brother live in a big family, both of us are just teenagers, and we got our chickens last march. We started out with 6 buff orpingtons, and in may one of them passed away, so we ended up getting 4 more chickens, this time Rhode island reds. It wasn't my idea to get chickens, I didn't even want them, but now I love them a lot. I didn't know I could have a love for these animals as much as I have had. We live in a relatively safe area for chickens. Far enough from any woods for them to be safe during the day, and have some string to keep them safe from air predators. I have two dogs, both are scared of the chickens which is strange because they are so much bigger than they are. I am so excited to have registered to backyard chicken, something I should have done a while ago.
