Hello, I'm new at raising fowl. We have two banty hens and a Silkie cross rooster. We received a 9 day old and two day old goslings. They're eating their pine shaving, paper towel bedding along with the cardboard box we've got them in, in a metal crate. Is this harmful to them?
Welcome to BYC!! It’s not good for them to eat that. Surely the pine shavings are too big to eat though, right?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

They shouldn't be eating bedding or anything other than their chick feed. Make sure they know where it is. If they continue, switch over to bermuda grass hay or Timothy hay, at least of they eat this, it's real food. You can also use coated hardware cloth raised off the brooder floor.

Nothing to eat here...
