(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? - I'm not new to chickens, however I'm new to raising chickens in Michigan! I moved from very far northern California 3 years ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? - I have (lucky) 13 hens right now
(3) What breeds do you have? - 1 barred rock, 2 Australorps, 2 Light Brahmas, 1 RIR, 1 Isa Brown, 4 OE's, 2 Sapphire Gems,
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? - I love watching them grow from little chicks, forming a bond with them, watching them and their little personalities bloom and of course the different color eggs
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? - We love to kayak and enjoy the nice weather sitting out by our pond while all our animals are out and about.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. - My boyfriend and I bought a house in the "country" outskirts of Metro Detroit. We have 2.5 acres and a pond in our back yard and wanted to fill it with life! We have 2 Golden Retrievers, ducks, chickens and a cat.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
- I actually looked up something about feather picking and ended up reading a post! I joined the same day!
