🙋‍♀️Welcome to BYC!

You have come to the right place! There are tons of people on here ready to help with whatever they can! Just ask!We all share the crazy addition to chickens and other animals!

I have purchased chicks from TS but i wouldnt really recommend it and sometimes i would. Thats a hard call for me in many ways. Some TS stores have employees that KNOW how to take care of chicks/chickens and have some of their own. Others not so much. It also really depends on the breed and location. Some breeds do great and others (like bantams at some stores dont do so well) we have started out flock on TS chicks and i did well, but we got our original flock from Oklahoma from people who had farms and animals of their own so they took good care of them. If you havent lost any yet and you are past 3 days i think you should be fine. I always like to add Electrolytes and Probiotics to their water. Look up a home made recipe for both because those packets you buy at the store have unneeded dyes and additives in them.

And if you haven't checked already,
The Learning Center
has some great articles
to help you along the way!

Cant wait to see you around 🩵

Hi, it's nice to have you here with us! There are many members that have purchased chicks from TSC (as well as other farm stores). I think you'll find opinions a mixed bag, so much depends on the TSC employees and how well they are trained to handle chicks.
Welcome. Agree with @N F C. It also depends on the hatchery they obtain their chicks from...I thought it was always hoovers, but that is not true.

Hiya, Deb, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

I haven't bought any from TSC but know many around here in WI that do as there aren't a lot of other choices for many. I've never heard any complaints except for the occasional, "They said these 10 were pullets and I got a rooster."
I agree with @Debbie292d, but would add that many hatcheries cannot sex well at 1-day old. Actually it is difficult to do.
