I just subscribed today so I may get as much information as I can to take care of my chicken babies as best I can. I am from Louisiana and have raised chickens about 5 years now.
I have 5 lavender oorphintons that are about 16 weeks old, 4 hens and 1 rooster.
My old flock consists of a rooster, his name is Bully Boy, he was hatched out here about 4 years ago, he’s a cross between a game rooster and a Maran.
I have a mixed blue laced Wyandotte that is a cross between a pure blue laced Wyandotte and Bully boy.
I have a Bantham, she’s the oldest of all and she is fierce, lol.
I have two pure bred Rhode Island Red’s.
I have a Maran crossed with Bully Boy.
I have one that looks like she has ear muffs on the side of her head but I can’t remember what type she is at the moment.
My chicken babies are important to me and keeps me entertained and they love me back.
I think at the moment the only problem I am having except the mouse problem is that I have 2 hens that are in competition as to which one can “set” longer than the other. I kid you not, these girls have been on the nest practically all summer trying to hatch little ones.
A chicken snake ate a batch when they were ready to hatch. There also have been other various reasons that there are no bitties at all despite those 2 poor hens have set for a few months now. It worries me but I really am hoping the mama’s will have at least one before too many days.
Sincerely,
Lindam7
