Welcome, Chickenannie and kids! We joined the BYC chicken world about 15 months ago and love it! We have 6 black Jersey Giants, 2 silkies, several bantam Cochins and 4 "assorted" chickens from the feed store, a total of 2 roosters and 12 hens. The teenagers are 27 weeks old so those 3 hens just started laying. It has been so much fun to watch them grow up and interact with us and each other. Enjoy!

You are correct in that this is an " EGG-cellent " place to learn and talk about our chickens.

I see you have " Millie's ", are you a breeder by chance?, because I'm looking for those and Americuana's ( Sp?).

In the spring I have my first silkies coming and EE female chicks !

and I was thinking about adding a silkie Roo , and I'm wondering how the roo's are as far as temperment?

I have a WC Polish Roo who I raised from a baby by hand who has Suddenly decided to Attack Me only, whenever I go to let them out, clean , etc., so I'm a little Leary about ever having a Roo again.

The silkies coming will be sexed already as baby girls but I've been thinking about maybe letting them hatch a few.

So, again, welcome !

, this one from Connecticut. I have 2 Mille Fleurs--they are so sweet! (Even the one who would prefer I not get too close, but the other lets me pet her, so it evens out.)
Did you get your Ameracaunas from a breeder, or a hatchery? (I just wonder if they are real Ameracaunas, or if you will find out about Easter Eggers the way I did.)
