Hi, all! I'm a suburban-raised girl married to a farm-raised boy; we live in a farming community with a very small parcel on the edge of a small town. We are contemplating making a home for a small (4-6 hens) flock of layers. Hubby has experience from his youth with meat birds - and it turned him vegetarian! Before we bring any live animals into the picture we wanted to get the feel for what we might be getting into. We are not shy about animal husbandry - I have horse farm experience and hubby has worked on dairy farms - so this is just about learning how to care for a different species.
