Hello! I am new to this site and raising chicks and also 2ducks. I got them at the farm store so have no idea what breed they are and guessing at their ages! ugh We live in Pueblo Colorado in city limits so have homeless cats etc we plan to let them wander in our fenced yard WHEN WE R WORKING THERE coop with a pen with a top when we aren't. and cooping them at night. I have 3 pullets unfortunatelyy beautiful rooster. died in a human errot! but we may try to replace him but am unsure of age i am looking for not sure at all what i am doing with ducks other than they are messy and larger than the chicks.i plan to house them together i have only been at this for a few weeks so am really hungry for information. glad to meet all of you and all the great Information i have gotten already

Welcome to BYC. Be aware that drakes in a chicken flock can possibly present problems when they reach sexual maturity.

Also when chickens and ducks are raised to together (like in a brooder) the ducks like to splash and make an awful mess but, chicks don't like being wet and can be harmed by it.

Outside is a a different story . But again the drakes can be a real problem going after hens. Ducks are built differently than chickens. A drake can badly injure or kill a hen trying to breed her.
