New members from a rooftop in Brooklyn, NY

That's pretty neat.
How do you deal with clean outs and hauling up bedding, etc?

We're figuring out some of the details as we go tbh, but we thought a lot about this. The girls are about 7 weeks old and we moved them up to the roof about a week ago. There's a large cemetery near our house and after they do their tree pruning they offer free wood chips to the community here in Brooklyn. It was our best option for the run since sand is too messy for the roof and shavings would blow away. We filled up a construction bag of wood chips and it seems to be working well. We'll see how often we have to clean it out, but it isn't too bad of a haul to remove and replenish the chips. No smell so far and not too much poop accumulating yet. In the hen house we put an Eglu roosting rack (we ordered a replacement rack even though we don't have an eglu and designed some of the dimensions around that part) so it's plastic and easy to clean. We've got a poop drawer lined with pine chips to make removal easy too.
