Well, we'll need to pick a house. I offered mine, but Squeaky seems like she has a bigger place than mine. Other options might arise soon, you never know... And we'll need to pick a time. I'm thinking mid-dday so folks who have to drive here can make it a day trip. And decide if we want to do a potluck gathering or other option. Once we get all these details together, we'll make a little notice/flyer that we can post online here and other local chicken sites. I think those are good next steps. We obviously have some time...

I don't know that the *inside* of my house is any bigger, in fact I rent out two of the rooms to tenants who may well join us (and who can't cook: I'll cover their potluck contributions). Most of my indoor space is music studio which means there's space to set up chairs if it rains. Outdoors there's a good sized patio and back yard.

The major hitch in the plan might be my schedule. On Saturdays, I teach until about 1 PM so it would have to be a 2 PM-ish potluck; there's no way I can prepare a meal and also teach, and puttering around in the kitchen while I'm trying to teach isn't fair to the students. Sundays I'm more open schedule-wise.

Your call, Maggie: I'll be happy whichever you pick!

Hi,

My name is Ron. I live in Las Cruces, NM. I currently have 30 hens and 4 roosters. Most are cochins. Four of them are Mille Fleur. Six of them are Golden Seabrites, and four of them are Golden Dutch.

I also have Lovebirds, Parakeets, two neutered Dutch Rabbits, and my dog Rudi (Shiba Inu).

I was a regular at the old BYC for many years, yet I cannot ever recall meeting another member from NM. I am really surprised to see how many of us there are. I just figured New Mexicans did not hold the lowly chicken in any regards like others do; I stand corrected.

Hi Ron, I'm from the Silver City area, but we are in LC quite a bit lately. Nice to "meet" you! There's a chicken lady up in Alamogordo who isn't on the computer enough to be on BYC, but she's got quite a few birds of every variety. Her name is Carol Callahan, you should look her up...
