The annual Balloon Fiesta is underway! Here's a few shots of the Dawn Patrol (the first balloons launched to check conditions) drifting past my house. It was so still this morning that I could hear the Star Spangled Banner drifting up valley from Balloon Park!

There are 15 balloons right over my house now! love this time of year.

I was out harvesting apples this morning and one landed 20 yards away in the next property! So close they blocked out the sun and their balloon brushed the tree I was under. Nice folks from Wisconsin.

Something tells me there are going to be a lot of neighborhood landings this week....

Like a swarm of orb-y bees they came up the valley. It was like being inside a balloon snowglobe.





Saw a flying cow before my first cup of coffee. No, I didn't have a wild Friday night.

Does anyone know of a breeder between Los Lunas and Santa Fe that breeds golden laced wyandottes or golden double laced barnevelders? I have fallen in absolute love with the feather patterns and colors of those breeds and I'd love to get a bird or two from a private breeder with good stock. I don't want to take a chance with a hatchery since you really don't know what you'll get from them. I'm looking for birds with parents that have very definitive coloring/patterns. Some birds will have mottled or very little patterning in the feathers, something I want to avoid.

She's been working on her Barnevelder stock, but I'm not sure whether she's selling at this point or not.

DaraKing, my flock is not quiet at POL yet, but come early spring I plan on hatching out babies. I have both the blue and regular/golden double laced varieties. Parent stock is from TLS Ranch and Janelle Pruett from Washington State. I will post here when laying starts and/or I am hatching babies. Probably Marchish.
