Are there any Poultry Swaps happening in February?

I have A LOT of Hy-Line hybrid production white teen-chicks to sell and also 4 BLRW (splash) chicks... My brooders are more than crowded and I need an outlet.

I don't know if the poultry swaps have stopped for the winter or not, they usually advertise on Craigslist. We were thinking about putting one together in southern NM starting this spring, but I don't think we've started working on it yet. I'd also consider talking to your local feed store to see if they want to take any of them for sale or even let you put an ad up. Craigslist is another outlet. I don't know if any of your farmer's markets are operating at this time of year, but generally they are pretty inexpensive to join for the year. Lots of folks will be starting to look for layers about this time of year, usually they can't find them because most of us reduce our flocks in the fall

Call Edgewood Feed to see if they are having a swap soon (usually the second Saturday of each month)

Good luck!

Can do. I'm in Corrales. PM me before Saturday morning, if interested. The TJ's are almost fully feathered and easy to tell pullets from roos. The BLRW are a week old, so just fuzzy and straight run.

PM'ed you

Enjoy your chicks! May they lay long and large for you!

The Edgewood poultry swap was fairly well attended today. There were guinea pigs, rabbits, quail, turkeys, ducks and -- of course -- chickens. Didn't see any hatching eggs there. Sold all of the Trader Joe's chicks there within 5 minutes of pulling in to the woman at the car next to mine. Her sister is going into the egg business, so in a couple of months she should be rolling in white eggs. It was a good day for all!
