The Lav Ameraucana roo decided he likes to sleep snuggled UNDER one of the Cochin roos!!!! RFLOL

The Black Ameraucana likes to roost, but the other birds don't want to... Should I try to teach the Cochins to roost, or will they be okay on the floor? There is ample bedding, and they are safe on the floor, but I don't want them to smach each other to death like young chicks will. I have different diameter roosts so that the birds can all choose what they want to sit on, and am planning to make some roosts out of 2x4s- my mom's birds really like theirs!

TOOOOOOO funny about the lav boy. Dont't bother trying to ge the cochins to roost. As long as they have clean bedding to keep them off the cool floor they prefer to snuggle. I only have one little silver laced cochin pullet who likes to hop up into low branches. My cochins do like to get up and nap on the lawn chairs.

HA! Now that would be a cute pic! lol

They are out free ranging during the day now, and love it. The 2 younger girls have decided that they like a particular sage brush to nap under

Anyone interested in a free lavender Ameraucana rooster hatched from Pips and peeps eggs , or a free Golden laced Cochin rooster from Rare feathers eggs, let me know. They are LF and 6-7 mos old. I am in Aztec. Pick-up only. Clare (dak)

Howdy y'all - I have hatchery Silver Cuckoo Marans that just started laying. They live in a horse trailer (pic posted in the coop stuff). I live near the middle of no where, just go there and take a left. I have three roos. If anyone is interested in saving a couple from freezer vacation, please let me know. I would like to get a couple of cochin. If I understand correctly they go broody. Howdy to my Silver and Cliff neighbors.

to my neighbor in San Lorenzo! My cochins are broody deluxe. I've got my first standard cochins, and I'm hoping they go broody. I can only imagine the number of eggs they can cover! I actually have a pair of 2yo blue cochins that I am willing to part with. They are hatchery quality, but she has been a broody champion and they have had a bunch of cute chicks. Enough that I've kept all my neighbors supplied with cochins...

Hey there jossanne - would you be willing to take a roo or two in trade for your cochin? I would offer you some eggs to sweeten the deal but I am thinking you have more than enough. How about some fresh prickly pear jelly?
